Trialist Njazi Kuqi netted a hat-trick and virtually everyone else was also on the scoresheet as the reserves hammered Oxford United 9-0 at Playford Road. Dean Bowditch netted twice and Ed Upson, James Krause, Ian Miller and Darryl Knights also scored.

Alan Lee scored twice as Jim Magilton's Blues came from behind to defeat Roy Keane's Sunderland 3-1 at Portman Road. Lee's goals came after the break, Jason De Vos's inexplicable own goal having been equalised by Darren Currie's freekick in the first half.

Billy Clarke's first league goal won the Blues a 2-1 victory over Southampton. The Saints had gone ahead in the third minute through Kenwyne Jones and were the better side before the break, but after Clarke's introduction on 65 Town hit back, Simon Walton netting his second penalty in two matches.

Town's reserves climbed to the top of the Pontin's Holidays Combination League East Division with a 1-0 victory at Stevenage Borough's Broadhall Way. Danny Haynes scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 38th minute.

Richard Naylor netted from the spot in the final minute to earn the Town 2000 side a 3-3 draw in his testimonial. Alan Lee and Danny Haynes put the current Town team two up before Jermaine Wright and Marcus Stewart levelled. Haynes netted a penalty and Naylor fittingly completed the scoring.
